The “Boho Eco Lodge” is an environmentally sustainable tourism project involving the construction of self-catering accommodation in Boho, County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland, using locally sourced materials and skills.

Using sustainable development methods and building materials sourced locally, this accommodation will incorporate renewable energy features such as rainwater harvesting, solar panelling, pellet burning stove / boiler system and a Reed Bed Sewerage System. As such, it will have a minimal impact on the ecology of the area.

The lodge will also be an educational / information point, acting as a catalyst for encouraging others to use similar renewable energy features in their homes. People wishing to see eco-friendly renewable energy at work will find this accommodation embraces what an eco-friendly home would mean for them and the environment. Individual visits can be arranged with advance booking.

This project will be based near the Kingfisher Cycle Trail. Recognising the importance of this trail and the resources in the local area associated with it, it is believed that the accommodation will compliment the requirements of those visitors already coming to the area. It will also increase the portfolio of existing tourism facilities in the area thus attracting more visitors.

The “Boho Eco Lodge” project is linked to a similar project in Co. Leitrim via Mr. Conor McManus. Although the 2 projects are essentially separate, this linkage is an interracial part of the learning process; with an exchange of ideas and joint research completed (on sustainable development and renewable energy systems), the link has ensured that there is no duplication of work. It is hoped that this relationship will continue for many years to come.

The project is also linked to the Canadian Canoe, Bike, and Fishing Hire facility ‘Boho Eco Hire' which will also compliment the site.

To create a Hire Facility, to hire 3-4 man Canadian Canoes, Mountain bikes, Fishing rods and items associated with their use i.e Life jackets, paddles, helmets etc. This centre will be located at Corr Bridge, Boho, taking advantage of the proposed new canoe trail from Corr Bridge along 15km of the Sillees river to Lough Erne and the new extension loop of the Kingfisher bike trail and an excellent coarse fishing area.
